      Government

Poland has a semi-presidential parliamentary republic with representative democracy and a bicameral parliament. Poland's National Assembly is made up of the 460-member Sejm (lower house) and the 100-member Senate. Poland joined the EU in 2004.

Since 2015, the country's ruling party has regularly advocated for policies that undermine judicial independence. The continuous weakening of the rule of law and democratic supervision has created circumstances for corruption to flourish at the highest echelons of power.

With their recent pushback against the EU for making the rule of law a requirement for receiving EU subsidies, Polish political leaders jeopardised democracy and anti-corruption efforts.

      Economy

Machine construction, iron and steel manufacture, coal mining (which accounts for 55% of Poland's primary energy consumption), chemicals, shipbuilding, food processing, furniture, glass, drinks, and textiles are the county's principal industries.

During the 2008-09 economic slump, Poland's economy was the only one in the European Union to escape a recession. While the Polish economy has done well, growth slowed in 2013 and 2014, owing in part to the eurozone's persistent economic troubles. However, Poland's economic performance might improve if some of the remaining flaws in its road and rail infrastructure, business climate, inflexible labour code, the commercial court system, government red tape, and expensive tax system are addressed.

        Tourism

The Altarpiece by Veit Stoss in Kraków's St. Mary's Basilica, the Teutonic Order's Castle in Malbork, the Masurian Lakeland, the Ojców National Park near Kraków, the Tatra National Park, the Warsaw Old Town Market Square, Wilanów Palace near Warsaw, the Wawel Royal Castle in Kraków, and the Wieliczka Salt Mine are just a few of Poland's main attractions.

        UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Poland is home to 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Some of the prominent ones include the Teutonic Order Castle in Malbork, Auschwitz Birkenau, Churches of Peace in Jawor and Widnica, Medieval Town of Toru, and Biaowiea Forest.

        Education

Not only that, but Poland is one of the most affordable European countries for studying (PhD degrees are even offered for free!) and Polish cities like Warsaw and Krakow have been voted among the best student-friendly cities, with a vibrant atmosphere, excellent study environment, and low living costs. There are almost 500 universities to select from, with 16 of them appearing in the QS World University Rankings and 25 appearing in the QS EECA University Rankings. 18 Nobel Laureates have attended Polish universities. Furthermore, the lack of admission tests to Polish colleges makes this a far more appealing study option for international students. All you'll need is a secondary school diploma, a financial viability certificate, and English or Polish.
